THERE’S NO (CITY LIMITS)

There’s no undoing the things we’ve done
together, the hopes we’ve smashed or the
dreams we’ve let slip away.

The city reaches out to me begging for me to
open my heart to you again and sing the
songs that I’ve long since buried behind the
fear, and the years of putting my true self
down, playing the roles that weren’t mine to play!

tell me what you want from me,
tell me what you need from me,
tell me that you believe in me.
tell me that you love me,
tell me I’m worth something.
please tell me.

There’s no turning back time, there’s no going
back to the places where we went wrong
or to chase down those moments of
personal greatness that never came our
way, finding others but eluding us, lost to
the dark and rainy streets of the city.
